Obligation to report by 26 July 2026 on the need for due-diligence rules tailored to financial services is deleted
What changes
The Commission is relieved of a scheduled review-and-report duty on financial-sector-specific due-diligence rules; regulated financial undertakings lose the (indirect) prospect of a tailored regime being actively reconsidered on that timeline.
Prior rule vs new rule
Article 36(1) of Directive (EU) 2024/1760 requires the Commission to submit by no later than 26 July 2026 a report to the European Parliament and to the Council on the necessity of laying down additional sustainability due diligence requirements tailored to regulated financial undertakings with respect to the provision of financial services and investment activities, and the options for such due diligence requirements and their impacts.
